Cimicidae or bed bugs (sometimes bedbugs), are small parasitic insects. The most common type is Cimex lectularius. The term usually refers to species that prefer to feed on human blood.
Cockroaches are insects of the order Blattaria or Blattodea. The name cockroach comes from the Spanish word cucaracha, chafer, beetle, from cuca "kind of caterpillar." The scientific name derives from the Latinized Greek name for the insect.
Flea is the common name for insects of the order Siphonaptera which are wingless insects with mouthparts adapted for piercing skin and sucking blood. Fleas are external parasites, living by hematophagy off the blood of mammals (including bats and humans) and birds.
Fire ants are a variety of stinging ants with over 280 species worldwide. They have several common names, including ginger ants and tropical fire ants. The bodies of fire ants, like all insects' bodies, are divided into three sections:
Termites are a group of eusocial insects that, until recently, were classified at the taxonomic rank of order Isoptera, but are now accepted as the epifamily Termitoidae, of the cockroach order Blattaria.
Carpenter ants are large (.25 to 1 in/0.63 to 2.5 cm) ants indigenous to many parts of the world. They prefer dead, damp wood in which to build nests. They do not eat it, however, unlike termites.
#1. How do I know if I have a Termite infestation in my home?
The correct answer to this most often asked question is "in order to properly identify a termite infestation a thorough and complete inspection of your home should be performed by a licensed professional".
Another correct answer would be Termite Swarmers and/or the little mud swarm tubes comming out of the wall near plumbing or "tracks" in the sheet rock where the Termites have eaten the paper... in extreme cases. If you ever see a good sized Termite swarm, you'll never forget it! They also occur outside with great regularity during humid spring days.
Iv'e heard people describe it as "some kind of growth comming out of the wall". That "growth" is the termites adding soil to expand thier harborage and swarm tubes.
#2. What does treatment cost?
There are no set prices for a specific size home. Even two homes of equal size may have different requirements for treatment. Proper pricing is another facet of a proper home inspection. Termite treatments are based on the square footage, the soil type the home is built on, the type of construction, possibly the age of construction and several other variables.
A disclosure document will accompany each estimate and will show the exact areas of termite activity, what materials will be used for the treatment, the cost and treatment options.
#3. If I have my home treated, is it permanant?
No. Even the most resiliant Termite chemicals degrade over time. Our Termite treatments come with a one year warranty and an annual renewal option is generally offered on most residential structures.
#4. How seriously can Termites damage my home?
In the case of Reticulitermes Flavipes or common Eastern Subterreanean Termites, if found and treated within a reasonable time, little more than cosmetic damage is usually the case.
With C. Formosanus, or Formosan Termites, damage can be rapid and shocking. Another good reason to have a professional inspection performed. These have been found in the North Texas area but are not as common as the Eastern Sub. Termite.
